§ Introduction:- 
∆) Born- Calcutta (1863).

∆} He was a Hindu Monk from India.

∆} His teachings & philosophy are re-interpretation & synthesis of various strands of Hindu thought, most notably -- Yoga & Advaita Vedanta.

∆} He believed in the mantra of simple living & high thinking.

∆} He inspired the youths to be brave & fearless & ready to take challenges.

∆} He blended the religion with nationalism.

∆} He was influenced by western ideas as -- Universalism via Unitarian missionaries who collaborated with Brahma Samaj.

∆} He was emphasis on "Nirvikalpa Samadhi" on Advaita Vedanta.
∆} He was born in Kayastha family in Kolkata. 

∆} His father was a popular lawyer at Kolkata Highcourt .

∆} After the death of his father in 1884, the burden of maintaining the family fell on him.

∆} Nationalism was prominent theme in Vivekananda's thought.

∆} He played a crucial role in growing Indian nationalist sentiments in 19th & 20th century, encouraging many Indian with success .

∆}He also stressed the importance of individual development.

∆} He realised three things are necessary to make every man great & every nation great ---- Conviction of power of goodness, absence of jealousy & suspicious & helping all who're trying to be & do good.

∆} His Guru__ Ramkrishna Paramhams, who convinced him that God is real & man can find the God.




∆} He said that :- I want many young sanyasis who should spread in the village of India & get absorbed in the service of countryman. 
                                          His dream didn't come true.




§Crucial Texts§
∆} By crucial texts like "Yoga" , "Rajyoga" & "Gyanyoga" , he shown a new path to young world.



§Death§
 ∆} On the last time of his, he explained the Shukla Yajurveda & said that --- One more Vivekananda is needed to understand what this Vivekananda has done so far.
∆} Last day of his life, he didn't change his meditation routine.
∆} Apart from Asthma & Sugar , other physical ailments surrounded him.
∆} He took his life in meditative state -- Ramkrishna Math (Belur).




§Political Thoughts§
∆} He beleived that, religion is closely related to politics.

∆} He helped to build the pride in India's culture & religious heritage & supported the Indian Independence Movement.

∆} He wanted to adopt general science for the progress of India.

∆} He always & continuesly accentuating that, there should be freedom & equality in the country.

∆} As per him, religion should be the main part of national interest in India.

∆} Swamiji beleived that -- political freedom was meaningless. They believed that- full meal was first necessity.




§Philosophical Basis§
∆} He was a supporter of Advaita Vedanta.

∆} Like Swami Dayanand Saraswati, he established the pride of Indian Culture through through concepts of Veda & Vedanta.

∆} He established Ramkrishna Mission in 1893. 
Aim:- To propagate vedic religion for the upliftment of Indians & services to poor.

∆} Public service was the first service that was placed in the climax of Swami's heart.

∆} Charvarna System can abolished, so he used to emphasized the education necessary for this work.

∆} As per him, caste system had a great damage to society.

∆} Vivekananda said -- "India has declined because of its castes.

∆} He is a founder of new view of humanity & this view is the "Potential Divinity of Soul"
