§Introduction-
1) Born- 1861, Kolkata & death- 1941, Kolkata.
2) His father Devendranath Tagore (Leader of Brahmo -Samaj ).
3) He was interested in writing -Poems & stories since childhood.
4) His earlier school took place in Saint Xavier School.
5) His most famous work -"Gitanjali".
6) "Bang-Bhang Aandolana"- Under the leadership of Rabindranath Tagore.
§Influence On Thought-
1) First effect of his father's superior character & deep-religious faith on his mind spectrum.
2) In his literature seems the influence of Vaishnav Poet.
3) He also influenced by -western civilization, in the field of science.
§ Tagore's Thought On Education-
1) He realised that- School-System isolates the students from society & nature and creates unusual school environment.
Thus, he decided to open a school in "Santiniketan".
2) He more focused on Gramin-Paddhati of educational institutions.
3) He also wanted some improvements in the process of teaching, wherein study should be interesting& enjoyable, he realised.
4) In his scheme -Discipline & residental system both are complement to each other.
5) Hostals imparts responsibility in children/ students & belongingness sense.
§Tagor's Rural Reconstructing -
1) He thought that, relation between institutions & socio-economic setup of around him.
2) With the help of Leonardo Amhurst, incorporated a "Gramin Kalyan Vibhag" with Shantiniketan.
3) He focused on reconstructing of rural work, mainly of two things -
∆} Help of outsiders should not be taken in it.
∆} Integrated approach should be adopted in solving the rural problems.
§Tagore's Nationalism & Internationalism-
1) Tagore was a nationalist as well as internationalist. He didn't believed in narrow nationalism, but he believed in world fraternity.
2) He considered the meaning of nationalism- civilisation, culture, Arts , Music & Literature, pertaining to India.
3) He was a fan of concept of spiritual humanism. He condemned the social sacrifices , caste discrimination, religious fanaticism & political narrow mindness.
4) He was opinion that, if oriental & western civilisation are mixed then establishment of - World Peace, World-Unity.
5) As per him- Every country & individual should get monopoly on the development of their proud personality.
